Most people are surprised by two or three of these. Read them first; remove them second.

What EXIF holds

The ones everybody expects, and the ones they do not

  • Expected

    • Camera make and model
    • Date and time of the shot
    • GPS coordinates, when location was on
    • Exposure, aperture, focal length
  • Unexpected

    • Serial numbers of the body and often the lens — identical across every photo you have posted
    • Shutter count, which orders your photographs in time even without timestamps
    • Timezone offset, which narrows down where you were with no GPS at all
    • How the fix was obtained — satellite, cell tower or Wi-Fi — and which way the camera pointed
    • Air pressure on some phones, which is a floor of a building
    • The owner name stored in the camera's firmware

Every field above is defined by the Exif standard and written by cameras without being asked for.
