Remove a watermark from a photo without uploading it
The same tool as the home page, with the steps written out and the honest limits stated first.
Open an image and paint over the mark
Drop an image here, or
JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, RAW, PSD, SVG. It stays in this tab.
- Nothing is uploaded
- No account
- Free, no limit
Paint, fill, look
Open the image
It is read into this tab. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Paint over the mark
Cover it and a little of its edge, so the fill can see where the mark stops.
Fill, then compare
Check it against the original before you download. If the patch shows, start again with a smaller area.
Why there is no "find the watermark for me" button
Automatic detection is a guess, and a wrong guess either misses the mark or paints out part of your picture. You can see the watermark in a second. The honest design lets you say where it is rather than being confidently wrong about it.
Works well
- A date burned into a sky
- A logo on a wall, a door, a document
- A bar or box over a flat background
- Tiling over a smooth surface
Works badly
- Anything over a face or an eye
- Text over fine texture — hair, foliage, fabric
- A mark covering a quarter of the frame or more
- Anywhere the surroundings are not consistent
If the picture is not yours. Removing an ownership or licensing mark from someone else's work does not make the work yours, and in many places removing that mark is separately unlawful. See the terms.
